Ian Horwood

Dr Ian Horwood is a Senior Lecturer in History at York St John University's School of Humanities. He holds a PhD from the University of Leeds and specializes in United States military history, airpower development, and the wars in Indochina.

His research examines historical air combat tactics, inter-service military rivalries, and the cultural representation of warfare in literature and film. Recent publications analyze airpower development through children's literature and tactical lessons from historical air battles.

Horwood is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and co-founder of the York Historical Warfare Analysis Group, an interdisciplinary research cluster applying mathematical modeling to historical conflicts.
