Ian Cronshaw

Ian Cronshaw serves as a Visiting Fellow at the Crawford School of Public Policy, Arndt-Corden Department of Economics, Australian National University, specializing in global energy systems and policy frameworks.

His career encompasses 36 years of Australian Federal Government service addressing critical energy challenges including greenhouse gas emissions reduction, energy efficiency standards, renewables targets, oil and gas security protocols, and energy technology innovation. He further contributed as Division Head at the International Energy Agency, analyzing global gas, coal, and power markets with inclusion of nuclear and renewables sectors, followed by consultancy work with the World Energy Outlook team in Paris focusing on coal, gas, and power developments.

Research interests span Energy Policy, Global Energy Markets, Coal and Gas Markets, Renewable Energy, Nuclear Energy, Energy Security, and Unconventional Gas Regulation, highlighted by co-authoring a book on unconventional gas production regulation at ANU.
