Ian Bourg is Associate Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Princeton University, with joint appointment at the High Meadows Environmental Institute. He directs the Undergraduate Studies program and researches fundamental properties of water-mineral interfaces.
Education includes:
- Ph.D. Civil and Environmental Engineering, UC Berkeley (2004)
- M.S. Chemical Engineering, INSA Toulouse (1999)
- B.Eng. Chemical Engineering, INSA Toulouse (1999)
His group investigates clay-water interfaces, CO2 storage, soil carbon dynamics, and contaminant transport using molecular simulations and experiments. Research addresses environmental challenges including geologic carbon sequestration and soil remediation.
Honors include NSF CAREER Award (2018). Teaches Introduction to Environmental Engineering (CEE207/ENV207) and The Environmental Nexus (ENV200).
