Hélder Telo is a Research Fellow at the Praxis Center, focusing on ethics, Heideggerian philosophy, and dialogues with Plato and Foucault. He holds a PhD in Philosophy from Nova University of Lisbon (2018) and has conducted research at Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and Boston College. His academic journey includes postdoctoral fellowships at the Nova Institute of Philosophy (2020-2022) and collaborations with the University of Coimbra’s Institute of Philosophical Studies and the ERC project 'Honor in Classical Greece'.
His research areas span Ancient Philosophy (Plato, Aristotle, Stoicism) and Contemporary Philosophy (Heidegger, Hadot, Foucault). He has explored themes such as care ethics, phenomenology of emotions, and the interplay between theory and practice in philosophical traditions. His work often bridges ancient and modern thought, addressing ethical and existential questions through interdisciplinary lenses.
Key grants include FCT and SFB 1015 Muße/Otium funding during his PhD, and current involvement in the FCT project 'Mapping Philosophy as a Way of Life' (2023-24). He has taught at the Luís Krus Center and contributed to edited volumes such as In the Mirror of the Phaedrus (2013) and Uma História das Ideias Sociais e Políticas (2021). His publications address topics ranging from Plato’s mimetic pedagogy to Heideggerian dispositions and Stoic self-care.
