Hyman Bass is a distinguished academic holding dual roles as the Samuel Eilenberg Distinguished University Professor of Mathematics and Professor at the Marsal Family School of Education, University of Michigan. His career spans over six decades with notable contributions to algebra, mathematics education, and policy. Bass earned his PhD in Mathematics from Princeton University in 1959, followed by academic roles at Columbia University before joining the University of Michigan in 1999.
