Dr. Hyejin Park is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Mississippi's School of Applied Sciences. Her work focuses on neurological communication disorders, particularly aphasia and Parkinson’s Disease. She holds a B.A. from Seoul Women's University (2003), an M.A. from Yonsei University (2007), and a Ph.D. from the University of Florida (2014).
- Education:
- B.A. in Language, Seoul Women's University (2003)
- M.A. in Speech Pathology, Yonsei University (2007)
- Ph.D. in Communicative Disorders, University of Florida (2014)
Her research interests include aphasia rehabilitation, neuroimaging of language disorders, and the application of machine learning to clinical prediction models. She investigates semantic and syntactic processing in aphasia, discourse production in Parkinson’s patients, and hearing loss epidemiology in young adults.
Her recent work bridges neurolinguistics with clinical practice, using eye-tracking and fMRI to understand language recovery mechanisms. She has explored the role of working memory in semantic processing deficits and developed behavioral therapies targeting aphasia-related speech impairments.
Dr. Park’s lab addresses both theoretical and applied questions in communication sciences, with a focus on interdisciplinary collaborations between linguistics, neuroscience, and AI-driven healthcare solutions.
