Christina M. del Toro, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, is a Professor in Speech-Language Pathology at Midwestern University's College of Health Sciences in Downers Grove, USA. She teaches graduate courses on aphasia, research methods, evidence-based practice, and thesis supervision. Her research focuses on language impairments in aphasia, specifically word recall mechanisms and treatment development, conducted through the Aphasia Lab at Midwestern University Speech-Language Institute.
Dr. del Toro holds a Ph.D. (2010), M.A. (2006), and B.A. (2004) in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Florida. She has authored/co-authored 6 peer-reviewed publications since 2008, with recent work emphasizing supportive communication strategies for aphasia patients and advancing verb-naming treatments in acute rehabilitation settings.
Her professional activities include co-chairing the ACRM Stroke ISIG Aphasia Task Force, which developed a free Resource Database for aphasia-related disorders. She actively mentors thesis students in aphasia research and participates in national conferences to disseminate findings.
