Hye-Shin Kim is a Professor of Fashion and Apparel Studies at the University of Delaware, affiliated with the College of Arts & Sciences. Her expertise spans consumer behavior, brand perception, and sustainability within the fashion industry. She holds a Ph.D. from Iowa State University (Textiles and Clothing with a Statistics minor), an M.S. from Oklahoma State University, and a B.S. from Chung Ang University, South Korea.
Her research focuses on online consumption behavior, cross-cultural marketing, and sustainable apparel practices, with notable contributions to journals like the Clothing and Textiles Research Journal and Journal of Global Fashion Marketing. Awards include the John Wingate Research Award and recognition in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.
Kim regularly teaches courses such as FASH218: Introduction to Fashion Business and FASH430: Fashion Brand Marketing Management. Her work emphasizes global fashion consumer dynamics and the integration of technology in fashion education. She has explored topics like brand authenticity, green brand strategies, and the impact of consumer reviews on purchasing decisions.
Her publications reflect a blend of empirical studies and conceptual frameworks, addressing issues such as product return policies, fashion subscription services, and the commercialization of adaptive clothing. She actively contributes to sustainability education in textile and apparel programs, advocating for curriculum innovation and global learning engagement.
