Hye Jeong Park

Dr. Hye Jeong Park is an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at the School of Art and Design within the College of Performing and Visual Arts, University of Northern Colorado, USA. She holds a Ph.D. in Human-Computer Interaction and an M.F.A. in Graphic Design from Iowa State University, along with a B.F.A. in Sculpture from Gachon University, South Korea.

Her research focuses on empathy and creativity in user-centered design, particularly how empathy drives students’ creative idea generation through individual differences as a motivator in the creative process. She also explores Design Thinking, User Experience (UX), User Interface (UI), interaction design, designing for diverse users, and higher education frameworks.

Scientific awards include her team (Team K) being nominated as a finalist in Work Design Magazine’s the Next Work Environment Competition 2021. She has presented at international conferences, published research articles, and collaborated with diverse organizations.

Dr. Park brings over a decade of professional graphic design experience in both the U.S. and South Korea, with prior roles at Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Economic and Development (2013–2020) and Dong Bang Musical Company (2007–2011).
