Huseyin Naci is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health Policy at the London School of Economics (LSE). He is the founder and Director of the Pharmaceutical Policy Lab and Deputy Director of LSE Health. His work focuses on evaluating the evidence base for pharmaceutical product approval, adoption, and reimbursement in Europe and the U.S. Key areas of expertise include comparative effectiveness research, health technology assessment, and regulatory science.
Education: Ph.D. from LSE (Health Policy), M.H.S. from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Prior roles include fellowships at Harvard Medical School (2012-2014), Harvard Kennedy School (2018-2019 Harkness Fellowship), and membership on NICE's Medical Technologies Advisory Committee (2020-2023). He currently advises The BMJ's Analysis section and holds affiliations with Harvard, Stanford's METRICS, Brown University, and Peking University.
Research interests center on improving drug regulatory systems, enhancing comparative effectiveness evidence, and ensuring transparency in pharmaceutical evaluations. Notable contributions include the 2013 BMJ paper comparing drug/non-drug interventions and the 2020 Lancet Series on Comparative Effectiveness. Awards include LSE's Excellence in Education Prize (2020) for teaching contributions.
Teaching includes leading the MSc International Health Policy program and courses on evidence synthesis, health care regulation, and systematic reviews. His work bridges academia and policy, emphasizing real-world impact on healthcare decision-making.
