Panos Kanavos is an Associate Professor of International Health Policy in the Department of Health Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He serves as Deputy Director at LSE Health and Programme Director of the Medical Technology Research Group (MTRG). His research focuses on comparative health policy, pharmaceutical economics, healthcare reform, and health technology assessment (HTA). Kanavos has advised numerous international organizations, including the European Commission and WHO, and coordinates initiatives like the IMPACT HTA consortium and The Patient Academy.
His work addresses challenges such as orphan drug pricing, managed entry agreements (MEAs), and the socio-economic determinants of health. Recent studies examine pharmaceutical distribution policies in Latin America and Saudi Arabia’s MEA frameworks. He leads interdisciplinary research on medical technologies and has contributed to HTA methodologies through frameworks like FRAME and the Advance Value Framework.
