Dr. Eva Heims is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of York. Her research focuses on transnational and comparative public policy, particularly regulatory frameworks in sectors like banking, pharmaceuticals, and utilities. She leads the UKRI-funded project 'Re-evaluating Regulatory Capture,' examining industry influence in pharmaceutical and financial regulation. Previously, she held roles at LSE and King’s College London, where she earned her PhD in 2015. Her awards include the LSE Doctoral Prize and the Foundation of German Business Fellowship.
Education: BA from Maastricht University, MSc from LSE’s European Institute, and PhD from LSE (2015). Research interests include regulatory capture mechanisms, cross-border coordination, and historical regulatory development. She co-convenes the PSA Specialist Group on Executive Politics and Governance and is affiliated with LSE’s Centre for Analysis of Risk and Regulation.
Key projects include analyzing regulatory decision-making from 1970–2010 in the UK. Her publications address regulatory governance challenges and practitioner strategies. She actively participates in peer-review activities for journals like Political Studies and Journal of European Public Policy.
