Hugo Dupont is a Lecturer in Sociology at the University of Poitiers, affiliated with the GRESCO Laboratory (Sociological Research Group on Contemporary Societies - UR 15075), a research unit jointly operated by the Universities of Limoges and Poitiers. He serves as Disability correspondent at the National Higher Institute of Teaching and Education (INSPE) and represents GRESCO on multiple institutional committees including the Research Commission of the UFR Human Sciences and Arts and the House of Human and Social Sciences in Poitiers.
Dr. Dupont's research program examines the historical and contemporary dynamics of inclusion and exclusion, particularly in educational settings. His work analyzes how societal perceptions of disability have evolved from institutionalization toward community-based support systems, with particular attention to the French educational context. He investigates the complex relationship between educational institutions and students with special needs, focusing on the transition from specialized settings like ITEPs (Instituts Thérapeutiques, Éducatifs et Pédagogiques) to inclusive schooling environments.
His recent publications reveal a consistent focus on the socio-historical development of inclusive education policies, the practical implementation challenges of deinstitutionalization, and the evolving role of specialized educational units within mainstream schooling. Dupont's methodological approach combines historical analysis with contemporary fieldwork to document how disability policies transform from theoretical frameworks to practical educational realities.

His administrative responsibilities demonstrate his commitment to advancing disability inclusion within academic institutions and shaping policy related to inclusive education practices.

His contributions help shape the laboratory's research agenda on disability and inclusion, connecting academic inquiry with practical applications in educational settings and policy development.
