Hugh Wolff serves as the Stanford and Norma Jean Calderwood Director of Orchestras at New England Conservatory (NEC), a position he has held since fall 2008. He conducts NEC's College orchestral concerts and leads an elite training program for orchestral conductors, while also serving as Resident Conductor for the NEC Preparatory School's Youth Philharmonic Orchestra since 2012.

Wolff's artistic practice uniquely bridges Baroque performance traditions and contemporary repertoire. As a champion of new music, he has commissioned and recorded film scores by Georges Delerue and contemporary compositions that expand orchestral possibilities while maintaining rigorous historical performance standards.

Wolff mentors conducting students through NEC's elite training program and conducts masterclasses at Juilliard, Yale, and Aspen. At NEC, Wolff directs the College orchestral program and the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, leading international tours including the 2013 summer tour. His work integrates technical precision with expressive depth across diverse ensembles, from Baroque chamber groups to full symphonic orchestras, reflecting his dual commitment to historical authenticity and contemporary innovation.
