Hubert Dechant

Professor Hubert Dechant is a faculty member at Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences, where he serves as Head of the Institute for Utilities Economics since 2007. He teaches General Business Administration courses within the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, particularly in the degree programs "Industrial Engineering and Technical Management" and "Electrical Engineering and Information Technology". His academic work spans business administration, water economics, and utilities management.

Professor Dechant's research interests focus on water economics, business administration in utility sectors, financial management, and benchmarking methodologies. His work bridges theoretical business concepts with practical applications in water supply, wastewater management, and energy economics. He has developed specialized expertise in evaluating business models within digital economies and utility sectors, with particular attention to revenue forecasting and investment analysis.

His publications reveal a strong emphasis on practical business applications in utilities and digital economies. Over the past decade, his research has evolved from traditional investment analysis in small and medium enterprises to more specialized work in water economics, benchmarking of utility services, and business model evaluation in the digital economy. His work frequently addresses the intersection of business administration with infrastructure management, particularly in water supply and wastewater disposal systems.

Professor Dechant serves as Head of the Budget Committee and Head of Quality Management at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. He is also Academic Director of the Center for Continuing Education and scientific director of multiple continuing education programs including Pharmacy Business Administrator, Business Process Manager, and several other specialized business programs. His leadership extends to chairing and serving on various examination boards in continuing education.
