Rudolf Friedrich

Prof. Dr. Rudolf Friedrich serves as Professor of Electrical Engineering and Automation Technology at Saarland University of Applied Sciences within the Faculty of Business and Economics and Department of Business Engineering since 2010. He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Saarland University where he completed his assistantship at the Chair of Energy Supply.

His research concentrates on systemic energy and water infrastructure analysis, with core competencies in:

• Integration of renewable energy sources into smart grids
• Asset management strategies for utility networks
• Cross-sectoral supply concepts (electricity/gas/heat)
• E-mobility infrastructure development
• Distributed generation systems
• Water supply network modernization

Professor Friedrich has secured significant research funding through projects including the federal PolyEnergyNet initiative, FHProfUnt's ASNIDEA project, and multiple fitt-program initiatives focused on e-mobility implementation in Saarlouis district and renewable energy network modeling.

• Landeslehrpreis 2020 for innovating Learning Team Coaching methodologies in Physics and Electrical Engineering instruction

Administrative leadership encompasses Senate membership, Faculty Council representation for Business and Economics, Examination Board service, and coordination of htw saar's partnership with DVGW.
