Howard L. Smith

Howard L. Smith is a Professor in the Department of Bicultural-Bilingual Studies at the University of Texas at San Antonio, within the College of Education and Human Development. His work focuses on bilingual education, multicultural curriculum development, and biliteracy instruction for multilingual learners.

Research interests include:

• Designing culturally sustaining pedagogies using multicultural children's literature
• Addressing socio-cultural dimensions of academic writing
• Developing dual language programs and teacher education frameworks
• Advancing equity through critical literacy and community engagement
