Dr. Holly Hubbs is the William F. Heefner Professor of Music at Ursinus College, specializing in Western art music, vernacular music history, and chamber music coaching. She holds a B.S. in Music Education/Wind Conducting from Quincy University, M.A. in Music Education/Wind Conducting from Western Illinois University, and D.A. in Saxophone Performance/Musicology from Ball State University.
Her research focuses on historical Black women saxophonists, with current book projects on Isabele Taliaferro Spiller and contributions to The Legacy of Elise Hall (2024). Her publications explore music historiography, cultural appropriation, and performance practice across jazz and classical traditions.
Honors include teaching excellence awards from Ursinus College. She maintains performance activities with the Junction Saxophone Quartet and early music ensembles.
