Holly Ambler serves as a Lecturer and Academic Advisor in the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies within the College of Arts and Sciences at Appalachian State University. She holds a BS in Recreation Management and an MA in Leadership and Higher Education from Appalachian State University, with foundational experience leading wilderness expeditions for the National Outdoor Leadership School that ignited her passion for guiding college students.
Her academic work focuses on higher education administration, leadership development, and recreation management through teaching courses in Recreation Management, Freshman Seminar, and Watauga Residential College, alongside providing academic advising for University College and Watauga Residential College. This practical approach integrates experiential learning with student development theory.
Ambler actively contributes to the community via nonprofit board service and coaching youth track and cross country. Her personal pursuits reflect her professional ethos, including running, kayaking, skiing, and quality time with family and friends.
