معرفی
Holger Gies is a Full Professor at the Theoretisch-Physikalisches Institut (TPI) of Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena and a scientific member of the Helmholtz Institute Jena. He serves as spokesperson for the DFG Research Training Group RTG 2522 (quantum and gravitational field theory) and the DFG Research Unit FOR 2783 (quantum vacuum investigations).
Research Interests: His work spans renormalization group and flow equations applied to strongly coupled gauge theories, fermionic particle systems, and asymptotic safety in quantum field theory. He explores worldline formalism and numerics for phenomena like the Casimir effect and ultracold atom gases, with implications in high-energy and quantum physics.
Scientific Awards:
- Emmy Noether junior research group leader
- Emmy Noether postdoctoral fellow
Education and Career: Gies earned his PhD under Walter Dittrich at Tübingen University, followed by postdoctoral work at CERN, and an Emmy Noether junior research group at ITP Heidelberg. He now leads research initiatives at TPI Jena and Helmholtz Institute Jena, with affiliations to the Abbe Center for Photonics and Helmholtz Research School for Advanced Photon Science.
