Prof. Christian Jirauschek is an Associate Professor in Computational Photonics at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), leading the Associate Professorship of Computational Photonics. His research focuses on theoretical and computational photonics, including quantum cascade lasers, terahertz technology, and optoelectronic device modeling. He holds a Heisenberg Professorship (2015) and Emmy Noether Fellowship (2007).
Education: Diploma in Electrical Engineering (University of Karlsruhe, 2000), PhD (2004). Research affiliations include MIT's Research Laboratory of Electronics (2002-2005) and TUM's Emmy Noether junior research group (2007).
Research Interests: Modeling of lasers, nano-optoelectronics, quantum cascade devices, and frequency comb generation. Active in developing simulation tools like mbsolve and bertha. Supervises PhD students in optoelectronic device design and quantum photonics.
Key Awards: Heisenberg Professorship, Emmy Noether Fellowship, Kühborth Foundation Prize (2001). Over 100 publications in journals like Nature Photonics and Physical Review Letters.
