Dr. Ho Huynh is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Medicine and Psychology, Australian National University (ANU), appointed since January 2024. Previously, he held tenured positions as Associate Professor at Texas A&M University-San Antonio and Assistant Professor at Armstrong State University (now Georgia Southern University). He earned his Ph.D. in Social/Health Psychology from the University of California, Riverside, and a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Arizona.
His research focuses on humility, positive psychology, and their applications in health, education, and social contexts. Key areas include intellectual humility's role in medical decision-making, clinician-patient relationships, minority student success, and celebrity admiration's psychological impacts. He teaches courses in social, health, and positive psychology, alongside research methods.
Dr. Huynh's work emphasizes factors promoting well-being and optimal functioning. Notable themes include how humility influences health behaviors (e.g., vaccination attitudes), team leadership in sports, and social comparison stress among minority students. He collaborates on projects like the Many Labs 2 replication study and currently leads research on misinformation resilience at ANU.
His articles explore humility’s effects on stigma reduction, pandemic mask usage, and student stress mitigation. He actively recruits PhD students for his research team, fostering interdisciplinary inquiry into psychological mechanisms driving health and academic outcomes.
