Hiroko Ohashi is a Lecturer and Coordinator of Japanese Studies at RMIT University's School of Global, Urban and Social Studies (GUSS). She specializes in Japanese language education, emphasizing intercultural communication and identity formation through language learning. Her roles include coordinating Japanese language courses, international exchange programs, and overseeing the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) Victoria Test Center (2012–2022).
Research interests focus on language learner narratives, intercultural communication, and fostering personal growth through language education. She advocates creating intercultural spaces where learners transcend cultural boundaries, integrating self and others. Awards include multiple teaching excellence recognitions from RMIT.
