Hilary Piercy

Dr. Hilary Piercy is an Associate Professor at Sheffield Hallam University, based in the Department of Nursing and Midwifery within the College of Health, Wellbeing and Life Sciences. She holds a BSc in Genetics (University of Sheffield, 1991), MA in Applied Research and Quality Evaluation (1995), and PhD (2005). With clinical backgrounds in nursing and midwifery, her research focuses on health services delivery through qualitative methodologies.

Her primary expertise lies in sexual/reproductive health and HIV, examining service delivery models and patient experiences. Current projects include developing nursing interventions for HIV patient engagement and managing comorbidities in HIV populations. As Chair of NHIVNA Research Subcommittee, she leads initiatives to build nursing research capacity in HIV care.

Teaching responsibilities center on postgraduate programs where she leads the Doctorate in Professional Studies and supervises PhD students – predominantly healthcare practitioners researching advanced nursing roles, dementia care, and adolescent health.
