Professor Hilary Marland is a distinguished academic at the University of Warwick, currently serving as Professor of History and former Director of the Centre for the History of Medicine (2009-11). With a career spanning over three decades, she has held key roles including Wellcome Trust University Award Holder (1996-2001) and academic positions at Erasmus University Rotterdam and Free University Amsterdam.

Research Interests focus on the history of medicine across modern Britain and the Netherlands, covering diverse areas such as prison medicine, puerperal insanity, childbirth and midwifery, health and girlhood, and domestic/alternative medicine. Her work explores intersections between medical practice, societal norms, and marginalized populations.
Awards & Grants include the prestigious Wellcome Trust Senior Investigator Award (2014-19) and multiple Wellcome Trust Project/Strategic Awards, totaling over £1.5 million in funding. She was also honored with the Roy Porter Annual Lecturer and Medal in 2016 and elected a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society (1998).
