Dr. Hila Fogel-Yaari is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Accounting at the University of Texas at Arlington’s College of Business, a position she has held since September 2020. She previously served as an Assistant Professor at Tulane University’s Freeman School of Business from 2016 to 2020, and was a Visiting Lecturer there in 2015–2016.

Her research spans financial accounting, audit quality, earnings management, textual analysis in disclosures, innovation, and gender bias in academia and the workplace. She investigates how firms signal long-term focus through innovation-related disclosures and how gender influences participation in and evaluation of non-core job responsibilities. Her work often employs textual analysis of MD&A and other regulatory filings.
The 15 most recent publications and presentations reflect a strong focus on disclosure quality, audit practices, innovation signaling, and gender equity. Her work combines rigorous empirical methods with critical insights into organizational behavior and regulatory compliance. She frequently contributes as a discussant and reviewer, indicating deep engagement with the academic community.

Dr. Fogel-Yaari advises graduate students, including Roberto Gonzales and Kelly Gebhart, and has served on dissertation and supervisory committees. She has been actively involved in numerous grants and service activities, including the Assurance of Learning (AOL) Task Force, Diversity Council, Scholarship Committee, and technology modernization projects. She is a frequent reviewer for top journals such as The Accounting Review, Accounting and Finance, and Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, and presents her research at major conferences including the American Accounting Association and Hawai'i Accounting Research Conference.
She is also involved in leadership and outreach, chairing the AOL Technology Taskforce and participating in PhD student mentorship programs. Her interdisciplinary background in law, engineering, physics, and finance enriches her research perspective in accounting.
