Hervé Moritz is a Doctor of Contemporary History affiliated with the SAGE Laboratory (UMR 7363) at the University of Strasbourg. He is actively engaged in research on European integration, political symbolism, and the history of European institutions, particularly the European Parliament. His work bridges academic scholarship and federalist advocacy.
His research focuses on the history of European federalism, with a special emphasis on the Crocodile Club, a transnational parliamentary intergroup active in the 1980s. Key themes include the intellectual history of Europe, European collective memories, and the emergence of the democratic deficit discourse in the European Community. Moritz explores how political myths and symbols, such as the 'Crocodile' totem, shape institutional identity and integration processes.
The available article reflects a strong focus on institutional history and political movements within the EU, particularly analyzing the genesis of permanent constitutional assemblies and federalist initiatives in the European Parliament. His publications often appear in edited volumes related to European studies and political memory.
