Scientia Professor Henry Brodaty is a leading researcher in dementia and cognitive aging at the University of New South Wales, where he serves as Director of the Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing. His work spans clinical practice, research, and community engagement, with a focus on improving outcomes for older adults and their caregivers. He holds dual qualifications in medicine (MBBS) and psychiatry, with advanced degrees including MD and DSc from UNSW.
Professor Brodaty's research interests center on dementia prevention, cognitive aging, and improving dementia care systems. His groundbreaking work includes the Maintain Your Brain study, which demonstrated the most successful online intervention to prevent cognitive decline in older adults, and the long-running Memory and Ageing Study that has followed thousands of participants over decades. His research has led to the development of the GPCOG screening tool now used in 22 languages worldwide, innovative approaches to managing behavioral symptoms in dementia, and evidence-based improvements in nursing home care.
