Dr. Henry A. Dunn is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the University of Manitoba’s Max Rady College of Medicine. He serves as Principal Investigator at the St. Boniface Hospital Albrechtsen Research Centre, leading the Molecular Pharmacology and Neuropsychiatric Disease Lab. His research focuses on molecular mechanisms underlying neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric disorders, particularly autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, anxiety, and epilepsy, leveraging G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and synaptic signaling.
Education:
- PhD in Physiology, University of Western Ontario (2014)
- Bachelor of Medical Science, University of Western Ontario (2008)
- Postdoctoral Fellowships: The Scripps Research Institute (2022) and University of Ottawa (2016)
Research Interests: GPCR pharmacology, synaptic adhesion molecules, trans-synaptic interactions, and drug design for neuropsychiatric treatments. Dr. Dunn’s lab employs molecular pharmacology, biochemistry, neurobiology, bioinformatics, and rodent behavioral models to explore these areas.
Awards & Grants:
- NSERC Discovery Grant (2024-2029)
- CHRIM Operating Grant (2024-2025)
- Brain Canada Future Leaders Award (2023-2025)
Advising & Labs: Accepting Master’s and PhD students. Active in research groups including the Manitoba Neuroscience Network (MNN) and ENRRICH (Neurodevelopment & Rehabilitation Research in Child Health).
