Prof. Dr. Henning Rosenau serves as Professor of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure Law and Medical Law at the Faculty of Law and Economics, Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. He leads the Chair of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure Law and Medical Law, contributing to legal education and research in Halle, Germany.
His research spans a diverse range of legal fields, with particular emphasis on:
- Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law, focusing on appeals and substantive criminal law aspects such as justification, excuse, gambling, and corruption offenses
- Medical Law and Biolaw, including transplantation, biotechnology, genetic diagnostics, euthanasia, and the legal framework for human research
- Comparative and European Criminal Law, as well as forensic psychiatry and the law of measures
Prof. Rosenau is actively engaged in public discourse, notably co-initiating a 2015 resolution signed by 150 criminal law professors opposing the criminalization of physician-assisted suicide. He argues this would violate constitutional self-determination rights and create unreasonable risks for healthcare providers.
