Prof. Hendrik Hildebrandt is a Heisenberg Professor and ERC Consolidator Grantee at Ruhr University Bochum, leading the Chair of Observational Cosmology. His work focuses on weak gravitational lensing to study cosmic acceleration, dark energy, and general relativity. He has held positions including Emmy Noether Group Leader at the University of Bonn (2012–2018), a Marie Curie Fellowship at UBC Vancouver (2010–2012), and postdoctoral research at Leiden University (2007–2010). He earned his physics doctorate from the University of Bonn in 2007.
Research utilizes large-scale surveys like KiDS and VIKING, with future involvement in LSST and Euclid. He co-founded the German Centre for Cosmological Lensing (GCCL) with funding from the Max Planck/Humboldt Research Award. Awards include the Heisenberg Professorship and ERC Consolidator Grant.
Key contributions include advancing lensing techniques to map dark matter and test cosmological models. His interdisciplinary approach bridges observational data with theoretical frameworks, addressing fundamental questions in cosmology.
