Helen Shuxuan Zeng is an Assistant Professor at the Graduate School of Management, University of California, Davis. Her research focuses on the intersection of digital economics, technology, and policy, aiming to bridge stakeholder accountability with technological innovation to address societal harms and promote responsible digital products.

Zeng’s research explores catastrophic societal impacts of unregulated technological implementation, particularly in areas like child sexual abuse materials (CSAM) and human trafficking on digital platforms. She investigates how institutions and regulators can safeguard against harms while fostering innovation, using econometrics, structural models, and causal inference with machine learning.
Her work has earned recognition through prestigious awards including the 2024 Nunamaker-Chen Dissertation Award and the 2024 William W. Cooper Doctoral Dissertation Award. She is also a K&L Gates Presidential Fellow in Ethics and Computational Technologies and a member of the Global Association of Human Trafficking Scholars (GAHTS).
