Helen Hu is a Teaching Professor in the Department of Management at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Her expertise spans internationalization, localization, emerging markets, and translocal educational enterprises. Prior to LSE, she held Teaching Fellow positions at the University of Warwick and the University of Birmingham, where she also served as a guest lecturer in Digital Business modules. She earned an MSc in International Business (2017) and a PhD in Economic Geography and International Business (2022) from the University of Birmingham, focusing on the internationalization of English Independent Schools and Translocal Educational Enterprises (TEEs).
Her research employs qualitative methods, including semi-structured interviews across 11 countries, to analyze international business strategies of Emerging Market Multinational Enterprises (EMNEs) and Multinational Enterprises (MNEs). She has published on topics such as triple-loop springboarding in educational enterprises and institutional voids in China’s automotive sector. Her work frequently explores how emerging economies leverage assets from developed markets.
