Dr Helen Hodges is a Research Associate at CASCADE (Children’s Social Care Research and Development Centre) within Cardiff University’s School of Social Sciences. She holds a dual affiliation, dedicating 3 days weekly to CASCADE and the remainder to Swansea University (Mondays/Tuesdays). Her work focuses on leveraging administrative data to inform social policy and practice, particularly in youth justice systems and children’s social care. She currently leads an HCRW-funded project linking student wellbeing surveys with administrative data to explore risk factors among children in care.
Her research expertise spans Bayesian methodologies in risk assessment, data linkage techniques, and policy analysis. Notable projects include evaluating Wales’ Women’s and Youth Justice Blueprints and analyzing disparities in school exclusion rates. Dr Hodges holds a Health and Care Research Wales Fellowship, reflecting her contributions to advancing social care research methodologies.
