Dr. Helen Eachus is a Lecturer in Neuroscience at Aston University, affiliated with the School of Life & Health Sciences within the College of Health and Life Sciences. She holds a PhD in developmental neurobiology from the University of Sheffield (2012-2015), with postdoctoral research at the Universities of Exeter, Mainz, and Sheffield. Her research focuses on understanding how stress impacts brain development and behavior using zebrafish models. Key interests include molecular mechanisms of brain plasticity, early-life stress-induced senescence, and neurodevelopmental disorders.
Teaching responsibilities include leading modules such as 'Early Life Stress and Neurodevelopment' and 'Neuroscience Research Competencies' on BSc/MSc programs. Her research employs techniques like brain imaging, behavioral analysis, and stress hormone assays.
Recent work highlights include studies on glucocorticoid effects on hypothalamic neurogenesis, transcriptional responses to stress, and optogenetic modulation of stress pathways. Over 15 peer-reviewed articles span developmental neurobiology, stress physiology, and zebrafish modeling.
