معرفی
Helen Bramlett, Ph.D., is a Professor of Neurological Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and Director of the Undergraduate Neuroscience Program. She also serves as a Research Health Scientist at the Bruce W. Carter Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Her academic roles include editorial leadership for journals like Neurotrauma Reports and Translational Stroke Research, and she is a founding member of InflamaCORE, LLC, focused on inflammatory disease treatments.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Behavioral Neuroscience, University of Miami (1998)
- MS in Psychology, University of Miami (1997)
- MS in Psychology, Northeast Louisiana University (1988)
- B.A. in Psychology, University of Texas at Austin (1987)
- Postdoctoral Fellowship in Neurotrauma, University of Miami (2000)
Research Interests: Dr. Bramlett specializes in CNS injury mechanisms, including traumatic brain/spinal cord injury and stroke. Her work focuses on inflammasome signaling, therapeutic hypothermia, gut-brain axis interactions, and sex-based differences in neurological recovery. She investigates translational therapies and biomarkers for neurodegenerative conditions linked to trauma.
Awards:
- Career Achievement Award (Women in Academic Medicine)
- Iron Arrow (University of Miami)
- National Neurotrauma Society Poster Competition Recognition
Grants & Funding: Currently funded by NIH, Florida State, and the VA. Her lab explores therapies like whole-body vibration, RANKL inhibitors, and anti-inflammasome antibodies, targeting post-injury complications and frailty in aging populations.
Labs/Teams: Leads research on neurotrauma mechanisms, inflammatory pathways, and translational neuroscience through collaborations with InflamaCORE and VA affiliations.
