Robert W. Keane, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Departments of Physiology and Biophysics, Neurological Surgery, and Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Miami's Miller School of Medicine. He leads research on innate immune responses in the central nervous system (CNS), particularly focusing on inflammasome activation in neurodegenerative diseases and trauma. His laboratory discovered the role of ASC in inflammasome pathways and developed IC100, a therapeutic antibody targeting ASC, supported by an NIH STTR grant. Dr. Keane co-founded InflamaCORE, LLC, to advance treatments for CNS inflammation and neurodegenerative disorders.
Education:
- Bachelor’s in Biology: SUNY College at Buffalo

- Postdoctoral Fellowship: MIT (Molecular Biology & Neuroscience), funded by Leukemia Society of America
Research Interests:
- Innate immune signaling in CNS injury and neurodegeneration
- Inflammasome regulation and therapeutic targeting
- Exosome-mediated inflammatory pathways
