Heidi Stuhlmann is a Professor in the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology at Weill Cornell Medicine's Graduate School of Medical Sciences. Her research focuses on molecular and genetic pathways regulating vascular endothelial development and placental biology, using mouse models, cell lines, and organoid cultures.
Key research areas include:
- Vascular system development (endothelial lineage determination, vasculogenesis, angiogenesis)
- Placental insufficiencies and fetal programming of chronic disease
- Egfl7 gene function in endothelial progenitor cells
- Epigenetic links between placental microRNA expression and long-term health outcomes
Awardees include:
- Basil O’Connor Starter Scholar Research Award (March of Dimes)
- Harvey Klein Endowed Professorship (Weill Cornell)
She also serves as Program Director for the T32 Training Program in Developmental and Stem Cell Biology and co-chairs the Cell and Developmental Biology program at Weill Cornell.
