Heidi Lesscher is Associate Professor at Utrecht University's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, leading research on neurobiology of play behavior and vulnerability to addiction. Heads the Neurobiology of Behaviour research group studying how play influences cognitive development.

- Play deprivation effects on stress sensitivity
- Animal models of resilience
Co-chairs Dynamics of Youth's 'Thriving & Healthy Youth' community. Developed 'Healthy Play Better Coping' framework for chronically ill children. Awarded NWO grants for play research including PlayRisC project.
