Heidi Jacob is a Professor of Music at Haverford College, specializing in composition, cello performance, and conducting. She studied at the Curtis Institute of Music (B.Mus.), Juilliard School (M.Mus.), and earned her Doctor of Musical Arts in Composition from Temple University.
Her compositions, praised for their "complex mesmerizing beauty" and "forthright expressiveness," have been performed by ensembles such as the Moravian Philharmonic, Argento Ensemble, and Temple University’s Contemporary Music Ensemble. Notable works include Lilacs (2023), Metamorphosis I (2023), and Many in One (2016). Her music blends European traditions with modernist influences.
As a conductor, she has led orchestras including the Haverford-Bryn Mawr College Orchestra and Lansdowne Symphony. She has also composed music for documentary films, earning international awards. Her recordings are available on Navona Records, PARMA Records, and SoundCloud.
