Heejeon Bras serves as a Senior Lecturer at Purdue University through the PLaCE Office (Young Hall 807), teaching foundational courses SCLA 110, SCLA 111, and specialized Reading and Vocabulary short courses.
- Master’s in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and Reading Education
- Completed doctoral coursework in Curriculum and Instruction (Second Language Acquisition/Bilingual Education) at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Her research focuses on multicultural children’s literature frameworks, bilingual education systems, and culturally responsive pedagogy, informed by 20+ years of cross-cultural teaching across K-12 and university settings in South Korea and the U.S. She emphasizes inclusive instructional strategies for linguistically diverse learners through curriculum design and student engagement.
Bras contributes to academic support infrastructure via Purdue’s PLaCE Office, developing literacy resources and coordinating language-acquisition programming for undergraduate success.
