Heather Roberts is an Associate Professor and ARC DECRA Fellow at ANU College of Law, Australian National University, where she serves as Director of External and Alumni Relations. Her pioneering research on judicial swearing-in ceremonies examines how judicial identities shape legal development through biographical and archival methodologies.
Research examines judicial biography, constitutional history, gender representation in judiciary, and legal ceremonies as historical sources. Current ARC-funded project 'The Ideal Judge' analyzes expectations of judicial behavior across Australian Supreme Courts.
Publications focus on judicial ceremonies (2011-2017), gender and judging (2012-2017), constitutional interpretation (2011-2016), and legal biography (2008-2016). Recent work explores digital disinformation (2025) and legal education reform (2022).

- ANU College of Law Education Awards: Award for Teaching Excellence (2014)
Supervises doctoral research on constitutional challenges, transitional justice, and international humanitarian law. Leads DECRA project on judicial expectations and collaborates on cross-institutional initiatives including the Federal Court history project. Teaches constitutional law, property law, and equity.
Directs the 'Ideal Judge' project and co-directs ANU's Japan Law program. Chairs ANU Legal History Network and serves on multiple college committees including Research and Visitors committees.
