Dr. Heather McMahon is a Professor of Theatre and Assistant Dean for Academic Success at Maryville College, affiliated with the Division of Fine Arts. She coordinates the Gender and Women's Studies minor and teaches Theatre Studies.
- Education: B.A. from Belmont University, M.S. from Illinois State University, and Ph.D. in Theatre History, Literature, and Criticism from Indiana University with a minor in Gender Studies.
Her research and teaching focus on theatre history, gender studies, performance analysis, and religious themes in theatre. She has directed numerous productions, including Romeo and Juliet, 9 to 5: The Musical, and The Laramie Project, while offering courses like Play Analysis, Introduction to Film, and Contemporary Women Playwrights.
Dr. McMahon is actively involved in academic leadership, serving as co-coordinator of the Appalachian College Association’s Teaching and Learning Institute and on the editorial board of Ecumenica: Performance and Religion. She has presented workshops at conferences such as the Tennessee Theatre Association, Mid-America Theatre Conference, and American Society for Theatre Research.
