Dr. Heather McGregor is an Assistant Professor of Curriculum Theory in the Faculty of Education at Queen’s University. Her research focuses on Indigenous education in the Arctic, decolonizing approaches to teaching and research, historical thinking, and climate change education. She holds a PhD in Curriculum Studies from the University of British Columbia, an MA in History of Education from the University of Toronto, and a BAH in History/English from Acadia University.
Her work includes SSHRC-funded projects such as 'Social Studies & History Education in the Anthropocene,' aiming to integrate environmental crisis responsiveness into history curricula. She collaborates on grants like 'Thinking Historically for Canada’s Future' (SSHRC) and 'Effective teachers for successful students' (Arctic-Net). Key research themes include Inuit education policy, decolonizing methodologies, and climate justice education. McGregor’s publications span journals like Rethinking History and Canadian Journal of Environmental Education, emphasizing Arctic education systems and Northern youth leadership.
