Deborah McGregor is an Associate Professor & Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Environmental Justice at Osgoode Hall Law Faculty, cross-appointed with Faculty of Environmental Studies & Urban Change at York University. She holds a PhD in Forestry from the University of Toronto, a MES from York University, and a BSc from the University of Toronto.

Her research focuses on Indigenous knowledge systems and their applications in environmental justice, water governance, forest policy, and sustainable development. She has co-edited two major publications: Indigenous Peoples and Autonomy (2010) and Anishinaabewin conference proceedings series. Her work includes SSHRC-funded projects on Indigenous Environmental (In)Justice and Indigenizing the First Nations Land Management Regime.
Professor McGregor's recent publications demonstrate her commitment to integrating Indigenous legal traditions with climate policy, water security, and decolonial frameworks. Her scholarship explores intersections between Indigenous sovereignty, environmental governance, and climate justice, emphasizing community-based approaches.
