Heather Jordan is a Teaching Professor in the English Department at Bowling Green State University (BGSU), part of the College of Arts & Sciences. She specializes in rhetoric, writing pedagogy, and technical communication. Her work emphasizes community-based learning, threshold concepts, and multimodal composition. She holds a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Technical Communication from Michigan Technological University, an M.A. in English Literature from The University of Akron, and a B.A. in English from The University of Florida.
Dr. Jordan teaches undergraduate and graduate courses such as GSW 1100: Intensive Introduction to Academic Writing, ENG 3880: Introduction to Technical Communication, and ENG 6200: Teaching of Writing Seminar. She is an active member of the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC) and the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE). She also serves on BGSU’s Center for Faculty Excellence Advisory Board.
Her research focuses on innovative teaching practices, including presentations like “All Writers Have More to Learn”: Encountering Resistance to Threshold Concepts (2018) and collaborative work on community-based mentorship in graduate education (2018).
