Hazel Westwood is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Marketing at Birmingham Business School, University of Birmingham, where she also serves as the Director of Undergraduate Programmes (Singapore). She has a strong professional background in broadcast and media, with 18 years on screen for Sky News and a total of 25 years in the industry.
Her research and teaching interests focus on public relations, business communications, digital media, crisis communication, and the integration of social media and Web 2.0 tools in marketing education. She has played a key role in modernizing the curriculum by introducing podcasting and social networking into academic modules.
Hazel has been affiliated with the university since 2003, contributing to initiatives such as the Universitas 21 summer school, communication programs for the Ford Foundation and Chevening Scholars, and the International MBA Public Policy Marketing module. She is also a Visiting Lecturer at Cornell University, NY.
She holds an MA with Distinction and leads the MBA Business Communications module while teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs in business communications, public relations, and new media.
