Frank Rowbotham is a Lecturer in the Department of Management at the Birmingham Business School, University of Birmingham. He joined as a visiting lecturer in 2011 and became a full lecturer in 2013. He teaches operations management, procurement, and supply chain management to undergraduate and postgraduate students and serves as module leader for Operations Management on the Executive MBA programme at SIM University, Singapore. Previously, he was a principal lecturer in operations management at De Montfort University.
His research interests lie in the areas of operations, procurement, and projects. He has co-authored several journal articles and conference papers focusing on operations strategy, particularly the Hayes and Wheelwright Four-Stage Model, and has published a case study through the European Case Clearing House. He is also the lead author of the textbook Operations Management In Context. His recent publications indicate a sustained focus on operationalizing and testing strategic operations frameworks.
Frank supervises students in operations, procurement, and project-related topics. He obtained his MBA through distance learning from the University of Warwick and worked in various operations management roles within the food industry prior to entering academia in 1989. His practical industry experience enriches his teaching and research perspective.
