Hasan Gilani is a Principal Lecturer and Course Leader for International Business Management at the School of Business and Law, University of Brighton. He is also the Inclusive Practice Lead and actively contributes to academic governance through roles in the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusivity Committee, Cross Schools Research Ethics Committee, and School Quality and Standards Committee. He chairs the Additional Consideration Committee and serves as a Faith and Spiritual Advisor for the Muslim community at the university.

Hasan's research focuses on Brand Management, Corporate Identity, Employee Branding, Brand Citizenship Behaviours, Retail Marketing, and Halal Branding. He has a strong interest in decolonizing marketing curricula and promoting inclusivity in education. His work bridges Islamic ethics with contemporary business practices, particularly in sustainability and circular economy.
His recent publications explore the intersection of digital gaming and consumer behaviour (Gen Alpha), Halal circular economy, emotional intelligence in family firms, and decolonizing marketing theory. These works reflect a trend toward ethical, inclusive, and culturally grounded business models, combining quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
His scientific awards include receiving a Gold Medal for his MBA. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute (FCMI) and holds memberships in the Chartered Institute of Marketing (MCIM) and Institute of Leadership (MIfL).
Hasan supervises PhD students in branding, retail, and corporate strategy, preferring mixed-methods approaches. He has secured research collaborations with major retailers like Sainsbury's and Marks & Spencer. He is actively involved in international academic partnerships and has consulted for NGOs and international development organizations.
He leads initiatives on decolonising the curriculum and promotes inclusive teaching practices across the School of Business and Law. His work on the 'Additional Consideration Committee' supports students with mitigating circumstances, ensuring fair academic assessment.
