Harriet Baird is a Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Sheffield's School of Psychology. She holds a BSc in Psychology from Manchester, MSc from Sheffield, and completed her PhD in 2018. Her research program focuses on self-regulation and behavior change, particularly regarding health and environmental sustainability.
Baird's research investigates: 1) Psychological barriers to sustainable behaviors, especially plastic reduction and reusable packaging adoption 2) Time perspective's role in goal achievement and health management 3) Interdisciplinary approaches to behavior change using models like COM-B and control theory.
Her publications demonstrate consistent focus on developing evidence-based interventions for sustainability challenges, with recent work exploring tradeoffs in healthcare sustainability. Articles cluster around behavioral psychology applications to environmental issues and temporal factors in self-regulation.

Baird currently supervises PhD candidates Luthfi Dahriyanto (reducing single-use plastics) and Michael Pan (family functioning and psychosocial outcomes). She collaborates with the Grantham Centre for Sustainable Futures and leads projects funded by UK research councils on plastic waste reduction and reusable systems.
As Social and Behaviour Change Research Cluster member, she coordinates interdisciplinary teams combining psychology, materials science, and environmental studies. She serves as Early Career Research Champion and contributes to faculty development initiatives.
